April 2013 UPDATE   We will now post portions of the Glacier National Park "Carpool Tour" for free - First stop Kintla Lake (Above)
(Please scroll to the right to see the view.)
There are two ways to to get to Kintla Lake in the NW corner of Glacier National Park.   Our favorite route is a walk up Belly River past the Cosley Lakes.
Next, climb up and over "Stoney Indian Pass" to the campsite at Kootenai Lakes.   In the morning walk north to Goat Haunt then turn west and climb over
Browns Pass to another nice campsite at "Hole-in-Wall" (It's 3 more miles to Boulder Pass.)    Next morning it's a gentle walk downhill to Kintla Lake and a swim.

If you are in a "hurry," ride the North Fork Road along the west side of the Park and stay in one of the 13 campsites at Kintla Lake Campground.
Find a pretty place to sit on the lake shore and enjoy.   No motors, no crowds.  Just you and the singing Loons at sunset, if you are lucky.
Click here to hear the Loons sing in a Macaulay Audio Library video.

In October, 2008, we built a "Carpool Tour" for former Glacier Park employees "homesick" for the park.
We start north of Kintla Lake and work our way around the perimeter of the park to the Chief Mountain entrance.
During the tour you'll see the views of Glacier Park from three Fire Lookouts - Numa Ridge, Scalplock and Swiftcurrent.
Wait until you see the new panoramas of Polebridge, Apgar, Lake MacDonald Lodge, Granite Park, Essex, East Glacier,

Two Medicine, Cut Bank C.G., St.Mary, Babb, Many Glacier, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn and Chief Mountain.

So what is it like to hike from Kintla Lake to Bowman Lake?   Here is a nice account of hiking the trail.
