20608  Winter is a wonderful time to ride south on Highway 89 to visit Armington Junction, the Sluice Boxes State Park, Showdown Ski Area, Neihart and Monarch, Montana.
The seven mile hike along "Belt Creek" is a fantastic walk during warm summer time.   Don't worry about keeping cool in the summer heat.
The old Great Northern railroad bridges were all removed in 1946.     That means you have to wade across "Belt Creek" fourteen times before you reach the end of the trail.

      Um, what's a "Sluice Box?"

Take a look down below the cliff.  Can you see the abandoned buildings?
We wonder if they were part of the "Lime Kilns" that operated near here in the 1890's.
The "Lime Kiln" used coal from Belt, Montana to heat local Limestone. The "roasted" limestone produce
"Quick Lime," the key ingredient in building mortar and plaster.
