          42406  Here is a view of the Powder River a short distance upstream from the bridge.
          To the north is Sheridan Butte (2,661ft / 811m)    According to the old "Welcome To Terry Country" sign in the town of Terry, Montana,
          on June 28th, 1876 two soldiers of the Custer Expedition carved their names on the Sheridan Butte rock face.
          "B.J. Bailey- M. Keel 7th Company C.D.W. Battery 6th Infantry."
 
          Notice how red the water is?  Captain Clark, of the Lewis and Clark Expedition named the river "Redstone" in 1806.
          Captain Clark camped on the north bank of the Yellowstone just across the from the mouth of the Powder River on the night of July 30th,1806.
 
 
          42406  Here is a view of the Powder River a short distance downstream from the bridge.
          It's been over 130 years since the famous steamboat "Far West" last stopped here but some days,
          if you have a good imagination, you can still see the old stern-wheeler working it's way up the Yellowstone River.
