Shonkin, Montana on MontanaPictures.Net (Page ten of ten)

71811  Shonkin Creek washed out the Shonkin Road bridge in the Spring of 2011
This is as close as we can get to Shonkin, Montana this year.  We'll try again next time.
Very few buildings remain in the town,  you can still see the Silver Grain Elevator.
(Please scroll to the right to see the view.)

Shonkin lends it's name to a unique Montana volcanic rock called "Shonkinite"
In the "Great Falls Carpool Tour" we walk up a Table Mountain (laccolith) called "Crown Butte."
During the walk up "Crown Butte" we stopped for lots of pictures of "Shonkinite" rock.

71811  Here is another view of Shonkin, Montana from high above on the Shonkin Road.
