Does anyone know the origin of the name, "Carroll Field?"
Was the field named after Matthew Carroll?  Carroll was the owner of one of the largest freight haulers in territorial Montana.
Freight was hauled by wagons from Fort Benton to Helena, Montana then on to the Montana Gold Fields on the "Carroll Trail" (1875)
