We were introduced to Glacier National Park by way of East Glacier, Montana. The East Glacier Lodge was an incredible introduction. Take time to see the rustic East Glacier Lodge. The majestic building was built in 1914, by the Great Northern Railroad as the gateway to Glacier National Park. To this day, the building still makes a strong impression. Hike anywhere around the East Glacier area and you will discover wide open expanses of open ridgelines and alpine areas. We prefer the “Big Open” feeling, found on the eastside of the park. There is something comforting about being able to see from a distance what you are approaching.
