Welcome To The St. Mary, Montana Picture Tour
We like St. Mary, Montana any time of the year. In the Summer, hike any of the trails in surrounding area. Finish the day with a hearty dinner at Johnson’s of St. Mary. In the Fall, ride west to Two Dog Flats and listen to the Elk bugle. In the winter, St Mary is one of the few Glacier National Park campgrounds that remains open after the snow falls. From St. Mary you could drive west on the “Going to the Sun Road.”
Or you can continue north on State Route 89 to Babb, Montana. From Babb, make a left on Many Glacier Road to hike Swiftcurrent Pass and see the historic Many Glacier Hotel.
In the panorama labeled, “December,” you can see the results of the July 28, 2006 “Red Eagle Fire” that burned over 34,000 acres in Glacier National Park and on Blackfeet Tribal Land.
